New Delhi: The Kumbh Mela in Nashik began on Tuesday morning (July 14) when the Jupiter (Bruhaspati), Sun and Moon entered the Leo constellation (Simha rashi).
Nashik is a place of great importance in the Hindu religion. According to mythology, drops of Amrit fell in the Godavari River in Nashik at the time of Samudra Manthan. It is considered sacred and thousands go to the place to take a holy dip at Trimbakeshwar in Nasik.
The Simhasta Kumbh takes place once in every 12 years and the devotees flock to the city in hopes of attaining salvation from the cycle of life and death.

Several hotels are there in Nashik to suit all budgetary needs. Also a lot of tents and camps are arranged to accommodate the thousands of devotees coming during the Kumbh. While rates of beds at this time are high, many groups also arrange for low budget stay.
Book in advance to avoid any inconvenience at the time of arrival. Go through a proper travel agent if you want to go through them.
