Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a review meeting with officials in Ahmedabad following the Air India plane crash in Gujarat, in which 241 passengers and 12 crew members were killed. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi was briefed by the officials about the incident. 

Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi visited the plane crash site and took stock of the situation. He also visited Ahmedabad Civil Hospital to meet those injured in the tragic plane crash.

Ahmedabad Plane Crash 

Air India flight AI171, which was travelling from Ahmedabad to London, met with a tragic accident on Thursday afternoon, barely a minute after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport.  

169 Indian nationals, including Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, 53 British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals were on board when the plane crashed.  

Following the crash, Tata Group announced an ex gratia of Rs. 1 crore for the families of the individuals who were killed in the tragedy. 

Earlier, Union Home Minister Shah also met with the injured in the hospital and chaired a meeting with the Civil Aviation Minister, the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and others. 

Three National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, comprising 90 personnel, are at the crash site for rescue and relief operations.
