Delhi Weather: A fresh spell of heavy rain lashed the national capital on Friday morning, causing severe waterlogging in multiple areas and disrupting traffic and daily life. Among the affected locations was Minto Bridge, a notorious waterlogging hotspot.

Visuals from across the city, including DND Flyway, Akshardham, ITO, and Sangam Vihar’s Neem Chowk Road, showed knee-deep water and long queues of vehicles, highlighting the city's recurring drainage issues. Commuters faced significant delays as water stagnation slowed traffic movement in many areas.

The heavy downpour comes as the India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Delhi and a yellow and an orange alert for parts of NCR, including Noida, Meerut, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.

Following the heavy rain, several parts of Delhi also witnessed waterlogging, with people seen braving the rain amid disruptions.

Following the rain and thunderstorms in the national capital, flight services were disrupted at the Delhi Airport. "Due to inclement weather conditions and thunderstorms in Delhi, some flights have been impacted at Delhi Airport. Our on-ground teams are diligently working with all stakeholders to ensure a seamless and efficient passenger experience. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information," Delhi Airport said.

IMD Prediction

The weather office has predicted that rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue in parts of the national capital throughout the week. The IMD, in its Thursday weather bulletin, also said that the minimum temperature in the national capital will remain around 25 to 26 degrees Celsius.
