Strong winds, accompanied by a dust storm and light rain, swept through parts of Delhi and adjoining cities such as Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday afternoon, a day after similar weather was reported in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert and forecasted a thunderstorm accompanied by rain over the Delhi area on Saturday, with the maximum temperature expected to settle around 42 degrees Celsius.
Around 3.30 pm, the IMD issued an alert stating that a dust storm followed by a thunderstorm with light to moderate rainfall and lightning was very likely to occur across Delhi and the NCR within two hours.
On Saturday weather turned pleasant in the national capital after a light rainfall in several areas. It results in relief from the soaring temperatures.

The weather department predicted a partly cloudy sky on Sunday, May 5, with sustained surface winds blowing at 15–25 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 35 kmph, while the weather forecaster predicted light rain accompanied by gusty wind, thunderstorm over the area of the national capital for the upcoming week.
On Friday, Delhi experienced a similar conditions, with rain and thunderstorms under cloudy skies over the area of Narela, Bawana, Rohini, Burari, Karawal Nagar, Safdarjung, and Lodhi Road.
The national capital has been under the influence of a sustained weather disturbance since Thursday. The IMD attributed the dusty conditions to dust advected from North Pakistan, moving towards Delhi-NCR via Punjab and Haryana under the influence of strong lower-level westerly winds.
