The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday asked RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to submit his alleged fake voter ID by 5:00 PM on August 16.
In a letter issued on Friday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) said it had investigated RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s claims made during a press conference on August 2, where he had informed the media that his voter ID number was not present in the EC database.
The EC added that, upon investigation, the EPIC card number RAB2916120, which Tejashwi displayed during the press conference, was not found in the official records.
The ECI clarified that Tejashwi Yadav’s name is listed at polling station number 204, Bihar Patra Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Library, part number 416, under EPIC number RAB0456228.
"After matching with the databases of electoral rolls over several years, the EPIC card number RAB2916120 displayed at the press conference held on August 2, was not found to be issued by the Election Commission of India. From the above facts, it appears that the EPIC card number RAB2916120 displayed by you at the press conference is fake. Forging and using government documents is a legal offense. You are once again requested to submit your EPIC card, which appears to be fake, to the office of the Electoral Registration Officer by August 16 by 5:00 PM," EC said in the letter.

On August 2, Tejashwi claimed at a press conference that his name was missing from the voter list, just days after the Election Commission of India released the draft electoral rolls for Bihar following a month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
Patna District Magistrate SN Tyagarajan stated that the name is still listed at the same booth where he previously voted. "It is available in the public domain. Everyone can see it," he added.
ANI quoted the Patna DM as saying, "It has been learned from some news sources that the name of the Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, is not in the draft voter list of special intensive revision. An investigation was conducted in this regard by the District Administration, Patna. It has become clear in this that the name of the Leader of the Opposition is recorded in the draft voter list."
