At least five passengers and two cabin crew members on board an Air India flight from London to Mumbai fell ill on Monday, according to Times of India reports. Additionally, at least 11 passengers and six cabin crew members experienced symptoms such as dizziness and nausea.
The cause of the illness is yet to be determined, and an investigation is currently underway. Mostly the poor oxygen supply leads to hypoxia which could be a possible reason for symptoms like nausea and dizziness, along with the possibility of food poisoning.
"On board flight AI-130 from London Heathrow to Mumbai, five passengers and two crew reported feeling dizzy and nauseous during different phases of the flight," TOI reported citing Air India in a statement.
Earlier, a Public Interest Litigation plea was filed in the Supreme Court seeking an interim suspension of all of Air India's Boeing flights following the fatal Air India crash in Ahmedabad which claimed the lives of 241 passengers.
The plea has been filed by Advocate Ajay Bansal, who has sought a safety audit of all of Air India flights and those of other airlines to address systemic safety failures in Air India's operations, particularly its Boeing fleet.
