New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to break away from his alliance partners RJD and other members of Mahagathbandhan and join forces with BJP to form the new government in the state next week. According to sources, the final round of talks between JD(U) and BJP is in progress and likely to be concluded by next week. Sources also said that the new Bihar government would be a coalition of JD(U), BJP and Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS).

The JD(U)-BJP-HAMS alliance would have a comfortable majority in the Bihar Vidhan Sabha, with 45, 76 and 4 MLAs respectively, totalling 125. The Bihar Vidhan Sabha has 243 seats and 122 MLAs are needed to form the government.

On Friday, Nitish Kumar attended the High-Tea party at Raj Bhawan on Republic Day and was accompanied by Ashok Choudhary. Sources said that Nitish Kumar also discussed the possibility of forming the new government with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.
