The Income Tax department on Wednesday recovered Rs 7.5 crore in cash while raiding the Delhi residence of Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar. The taxmen raided nearly 39 premises across the country owned by the minister and his family with the help of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel officials – including his home in Bengaluru. Shivakumar, the Energy Minister in Congress-led Siddaramaiah government, was housing 44 Congress MLAs from Gujarat till the day of the Rajya Sabha elections, August 8. Congress leaders called the entire episode 'witch-hunt'. Reports of raids being conducted at the luxury resort have emerged. However, Union Minister Arun Jaitley deflated the rumours, stating that no such report took place in the resort and no MLA was searched.

Speaking on the IT raids, Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil said, “Gunmen were roaming around inside the hotel as if our MLAs are criminals. This is politics at its worst.”

“We are not enjoying or partying here, if we had to then would have taken 15 crores as offered by the BJP,” he further added.
