Monsoon Session LIVE Updates: The controversy surrounding Bihar's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls intensified on Wednesday, with Opposition parties escalating their demands for an urgent parliamentary discussion. Congress MP Manickam Tagore submitted an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, describing the Election Commission’s voter list revision process as “dangerous and unconstitutional.”

Tagore's motion warned that the SIR exercise could lead to the large-scale removal of names belonging to poor and marginalised communities, particularly ahead of the state’s upcoming assembly elections. He directly accused the Narendra Modi-led government of misusing the Election Commission to “systematically disenfranchise” Dalits, backward castes, and the poor.
