In the last assembly election held in 2020 in Delhi, Dinesh Mohaniya of the Aam Aadmi Party won the seat by defeating Shiv Charan Lal Gupta of the Janata Dal (United) with a margin of 42522 votes. The Sangam Vihar Assembly constituency falls under the South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
