A fire broke out on the sixth floor of an apartment building in Delhi's Dwarka district on Tuesday morning, with officials reporting that two to three people may be trapped inside. Eight fire tenders were deployed to the scene, and rescue operations are underway, according to the Delhi Fire Services.

Firefighting And Rescue Efforts

The Delhi Fire Services received a distress call at 10:01 AM, prompting the immediate dispatch of eight fire tenders to the affected flat. Firefighters began rescue and firefighting operations without delay. A fire official stated, "According to initial reports, two to three people may be trapped inside." No confirmed injuries have been reported as of now, and efforts to douse the flames continue. Authorities are awaiting further details on the situation.

Recent Fire Incidents In Delhi

The Dwarka fire followed another incident on Monday at Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake Metro Station on Delhi Metro's Pink Line, where smoke was detected in a technical room at 11:20 AM. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reported that trains on the affected stretch between Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar were restricted to 25 km/hr, down from the usual 40 km/hr, causing delays. In a series of X posts, DMRC said, "Smoke has been dissipated with the help of Delhi fire service personnel, and efforts are on to restore the signalling/AFC in the affected section." Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, said that normal services have been maintained on the other sections of the Pink Line, with central announcements keeping passengers informed of their situation.

On-Going Issues

The back-to-back fire incidents highlight ongoing fire safety challenges in Delhi, particularly in residential and public infrastructure. Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the Dwarka fire, but investigations are expected once the situation is under control. Residents in the area have been advised to stay clear to allow emergency services to operate efficiently.
