Mumbai: Several Injured After Portion Of Chawl Collapses In Bandra East

Several people were injured after a portion of a Chawl structure collapsed in the Bharat Nagar area of Bandra East following a suspected cylinder blast on Friday morning, Mumbai Police said. 

The incident occurred around 7:50 am. So far, 12 people have been rescued from under the debris and admitted to the nearest hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Search and rescue operations are currently underway by the Fire Department, Mumbai Police, and BMC.

Delhi Building Collapse

In a related development, six people were killed and eight people, including a 14-month-old child, were injured after a multi-storey building collapsed in Delhi's Seelampur locality on July 12. 

The deceased have been identified as Matloob (50) and his wife Rabia (46), their sons Javed (23) and Abdulla (15), Zubia (27), wife of Azam, and Fozia (2). The bodies were retrieved from the site and shifted to GTB Hospital.

Four people living in the building opposite - Govind (60), his wife Deepa (56), brother Ravi Kashyap (27) and his wife Jyoti (27) - were also injured when debris fell on their house.

The incident occurred at around 7 am in Gali Number 5 of Janata Colony, under the jurisdiction of the Welcome Police Station in North-East Delhi.

This incident follows another similar collapse just a day earlier in the Pul Mithai area near Bara Hindu Rao in North Delhi, where one person died and several others were injured. That building had commercial establishments on the ground floor and storage units above, and was located in the Azad Market zone.
