BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari claimed that there are nearly one crore Rohingya immigrants, Bangladeshi Muslim voters, deceased voters, duplicate entries, and fake voters in West Bengal.

Adhikari, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, added that the Election Commission of India should remove these names to ensure the credibility of the voter list.

“There are nearly one crore Rohingya immigrants, Bangladeshi Muslim voters, deceased voters, duplicate entries, and fake voters in West Bengal. The Election Commission of India should remove these names to ensure the credibility of the voter list,” Adhikari said.

Suvendu Adhikari’s comment comes amid an ongoing tussle between the BJP-led NDA and the opposition over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, which the INDIA bloc claims is an attempt to delete a large section of voters.

Earlier, West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya stressed the need for implementing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state, warning that failure to do so could risk turning West Bengal into “West Bangladesh.”

Speaking to ANI, the West Bengal BJP President raised concerns over alleged demographic and law and order issues, claiming that the situation in the state is alarming.

"If West Bengal is flourishing as much as Mamata Banerjee says, why are so many people migrating from the state? 72% of the total fake currency in the country is coming from West Bengal, that too from Malda district. What is the government doing? SIR will take place in West Bengal as well; otherwise, the state will become West Bangladesh. Consolidation of the majority community of West Bengal has taken place. Medieval era scenes can be seen in West Bengal," Bhattacharya stated.

Opposition parties have moved Suspension of Business Notices in the Rajya Sabha, seeking a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

However, the Rajya Sabha proceedings were frequently adjourned due to opposition protests and sloganeering against the government over this issue and related electoral roll revisions.

Notably, Parliament has witnessed frequent adjournments for the last four days since the session began on July 21, due to continuous disruptions, protests by Opposition members over the SIR issue.
