Bengaluru Stampede Updates: A stampede-like situation broke out in Bengaluru as crowd thronged Stadium to cheer for their IPL team which won the trophy after 18 years. The victory celebrations resulted in stampede leading to casualties. According to reports, at least 11 people were killed and around 25 people were critically injured in the stampede as the crowd went uncontrollable. The injured have been admitted to Bowring and Vydehi Hospitals after the incident occurred amid massive crowds celebrating the team’s victory.
Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra arrived at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital to meet people who were injured in the stampede like situation in Bengaluru. "The state government should take full responsibility for this tragedy. When the whole country and Karnataka were celebrating RCB's victory, the state government's haste to hold a victory rally without any prior preparations led to this tragedy. The state government never cared about prior preparations. They were more interested in publicity. This resulted in the death of more than 11 people. Some people are in ICU. I spoke to some victims, there was no police inside, no ambulance facility. The CM should send the matter for judicial investigation," he said.
Notably, heavy downpour added to the woes. Visuals from M Chinnaswamy Stadium showed a large number of Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans outside the stadium to cheer and welcome their team. The Karnataka State Cricket Association has organised a felicitation ceremony for all RCB players but the overcrowding made the situation worst.

This happened despite Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, other goverment officials and ministers of the State government were present inside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Ahead of the victory parade, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar felicitated the IPL 2025 Champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Vidhana Soudha.

Dy CM Shivakumar apologised for the overcrowding. "We arranged more than 5,000 personnel. This is a young vibrant crowd, we can't use lathi on them," he said.
The opposition BJP has accused the Congress government of not putting in place any crowd control measure.

"7 dead. Many are battling for life after a stampede due to the irresponsibility of Congress govt. No crowd control measures. No basic arrangements. Just chaos. While innocent people died, Siddaramaiah & D K Shivakumar were busy shooting reels & hogging limelight with cricketers. Shame on this photo-op Congress government. This is criminal negligence. Blood is on the hands of Congress govt," said the BJP Karnataka on X.
On BJP's allegations, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar says, " They are there to allege and we are there to protect...yes, I am going to the hospital..."
To catch a view of the celebrations, some individuals climbed trees and perched on branches. Citing security concerns, the Karnataka government had called off the planned victory parade from Vidhana Soudha to the stadium. Nevertheless, large crowds gathered at the Vidhana Soudha premises to witness the government's felicitation ceremony for the RCB team.
Reacing to the stampede, BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla said, "Government did stop the roadshow in order to avoid stampede or any such situation. But, it was not anticipated that a stampede would happen outside the stadium. Everybody should work together on the damage control."
