Social media influencer Jasbir Singh, who was arrested by Punjab Police on charges of espionage, has been sent to two days of police remand by a Mohali court on Saturday.

"The police had asked for 7 days remand... We asked the police through the court what they did in 3 days. Today, he has been sent to a 2-day police remand," ANI quoted Jasbir’s lawyer as saying.

Jasbir, who runs a YouTube channel "JaanMahal Video" with over 11 lakh subscribers, was arrested by the Punjab Police's State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) on June 4 on espionage charges.

According to the Police, Jasbir is allegedly linked to a terror-backed espionage network involving Pakistani intelligence operative Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa.

The YouTuber is said to have maintained close contact with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested last month for spying, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national and expelled Pakistan High Commission official, ANI quoted police as saying.

The police reportedly discovered more than 100 Pakistani phone numbers during searches of Singh’s digital devices. Following Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Singh allegedly tried to delete incriminating chats and contacts linked to ISI handlers.

According to the police, Singh visited Pakistan three times – in 2020, 2021 and 2024. He even attended "Pakistan Day" event at the country’s embassy in Delhi, where he met with Pakistani military officers and vloggers.

On May 26, a court had sent YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra to judicial custody for fourteen days in connection an espionage case.

The YouTuber was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information and being in continuous contact with a Pakistani citizen.

She allegedly met a Pakistani officer, Ahsan-ur-Rahim, in Delhi, travelled to Pakistan twice, and shared sensitive information.

So far, seven people have been taken into custody in connection with an ISI-linked espionage network. The accused hail from Amritsar, Malerkotla and Gurdaspur, including individuals like Falaksher Masih, Suraj Masih and Sukpreet Singh. They are accused of leaking sensitive Indian military information to Pakistan.
