Two slain 'intruders' at LoC could be trained Pakistani military commandos, says Army

A cache of arms and ammunition such as assault rifles, magazines, grenades and daggers were recovered from one of the intruders.

New Delhi: Two "armed intruders" killed at the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district could be Pakistani commandos, a media report said on Friday.

"The way the BAT operation was conducted by the well-trained intruders dressed in combat fatigues, who resolutely engaged our 10-member patrol with accurate firing instead of fleeing like terrorists normally do after they are detected; the recoveries made and radio intercepts, among other things, all clearly point towards the involvement of SSG commandos. But yes, there is no conclusive evidence yet," the Times of India quoted a senior officer as saying.

A large cache of arms and ammunition such as assault rifles, magazines, grenades and daggers were recovered from one of the intruders.

His body was found on Thursday around 600 metres inside Indian territory in the Krishna Ghati sector after an intense firefight.

The body of the other intruder was dragged back across the LoC by his associates.

Two Indian soldiers were also killed in the firefight.

Such attacks on the Indian Army positions along the LoC are reportedly carried out by the highly-trained Pakistani SSG commandos for covert missions.
