At just four months old, Ekagrah Rohan Murty became one of India’s youngest millionaires when his grandparents, Sudha Murty and Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, transferred Rs 240 crore worth of Infosys shares to him.
The gift consists of a 0.04 per cent stake in Infosys, which amounts to around 1.5 million shares. After this transfer, Narayana Murthy’s own stake in Infosys slightly reduced from 0.40 per cent to 0.36 per cent.
Ekagrah is the nephew of former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who is married to Akshata Murty, Ekagrah’s aunt. This makes Ekagrah a part of both prominent Indian and international families.
Born in November 2023, Ekagrah is the third grandchild of the Murthy family, and his birth was celebrated by the entire family. His arrival adds to the strong legacy of one of India’s most influential families.
“Ekagrah” means focus and determination, inspired by the legendary Arjuna from the Mahabharata. His name reflects the family’s emphasis on values like dedication and perseverance.
Infosys, started in 1981 by Narayana Murthy with just $250, has become a global tech powerhouse. This share transfer continues the Murthy family’s tradition of ensuring future generations carry forward their legacy of success and innovation.
The transfer of shares to Ekagrah underscores the Murthy family’s long-term vision to secure the financial future of its youngest members, while also staying true to their core values and beliefs.
