India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will take part in the men’s javelin throw event at the Diamond League season final in Brussels, Belgium on Saturday.
Chopra made it to the finals after coming fourth in the standings. The Olympic champion had a brilliant run in Lausanne and Doha with second-place finishes at both meetings.
The 26-year-old athlete recorded a best throw of 89.49m to finish second at the Lausanne Diamond League in 2024.
Earlier, Neeraj clinched the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, registering a throw of 89.45m.
Neeraj missed out on the elusive 90-meter mark as he ended with a throw of 89.49 meters.
Talking about this year, there’s only one competitor—Anderson Peters who has a throw that is superior to Chopra in the Brussels final.
Peters who won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, ended the meet with a record throw of 90.61m, breaking the previous record of 90.16 set by Keshorn Walcott in 2015.
