German fans came out in huge numbers to cheer their team for its opening match of FIFA World Cup 2018. They left dejected as the defending champions lost 0-1 to Mexico.
The Mexican fans had a lot to cheer for as their side showed superb fighting spirit to keep the German strikers out.
Once Hirving Lozano scored in the 35th minute, the Mexicans put up a defensive show par excellence to contain the Germans.
The Germans kept praying for at least an equaliser but 26 shots - with nine on target - failed to put their team on level footing.
In the end, Mexico walked away with three full points and bragging rights.
