What is the importance of Atal tunnel?

Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Atal Tunnel in Manali. It is “world’s longest highway” tunnel and is named Atal Tunnel, Rohtang. The 9.02 kilometres long engineering marvel connects Manali in Himachal Pradesh to Lahaul-Spiti throughout the year. This tunnel will help the Indian forces in extreme weather conditions.
