Real paneer has a mild, milky aroma. Fake paneer may smell sour, synthetic, or plasticky.
Genuine paneer is soft and crumbly. If it feels rubbery or stretchy, it could be adulterated.
Heat a small piece in a pan. Real paneer will release fat and shrink slightly. Fake one may leave water or burn quickly.
Add a few drops of iodine solution. If the paneer turns blue, it may contain starch — a sign of adulteration.
Pure paneer tastes fresh and slightly sweet. Bitter or sour taste? It could be fake or spoiled.
Crush paneer in warm water. If it dissolves easily or forms white threads, it's likely fake.
Always buy from trusted brands or local dairy shops. Check FSSAI mark and expiry date on packed paneer.
