Israel-Iran War Tensions Live Updates: The conflict between Israel and Iran entered its 12th day on Tuesday. Tensions between the two Middle Eastern nations began when Israel launched 'Operation Rising Lion' on June 13, targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, military bases, and senior commanders.

In response, Iran initiated its military operation, named Operation 'True Promise 3', launching drone and missile attacks against Israeli targets.

Tensions escalated further in the region after US on Saturday carried out 'Operation Midnight Hammer,' bombing three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. US attacked Iran as it has always opposed Tehran possessing a nuclear weapons programme.

Condemning the strikes, Iran stated it "reserves all options" to defend itself.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, Japan's Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya have extended support US over the strike.

The ongoing conflict has raised concerns about the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial chokepoint separating Oman and Iran. With 20 million barrels of oil transported each day, any disruption in the crucial chokepoint of the Strait of Hormuz could send global energy prices soaring. The security of the strait is crucial as Iran has repeatedly threatened to close it in retaliation for Western actions.

US Strikes Fell Short, Iran’s Nuclear Program Remains Largely Intact: Report

The Washington Post, citing a classified U.S. intelligence assessment, reports that recent American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites did not achieve their intended goal of crippling the programme.

According to the report, the strikes only delayed Iran’s nuclear progress by a few months and failed to destroy the core infrastructure. An unnamed source familiar with the findings said Iran’s uranium stockpiles remain untouched.

While the White House has not denied the existence of the assessment, officials dismissed its conclusions as “flat-out wrong”.

Senator Rand Paul Questions Effectiveness Of Strikes On Iran’s Nuclear Programme

Republican Senator Rand Paul has expressed skepticism about the impact of recent U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, and whether they will achieve their intended goals.

“Will this prevent Iran from pursuing a nuclear weapon or actually push them further toward one? That is still an open question,” Paul said during an appearance on the War Room podcast hosted by Steve Bannon.

His remarks come in response to President Donald Trump’s claim that a full “payload” of bombs had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Iranian officials have offered limited information on the damage, publicly minimising the significance of the attacks.
