Europe Power Outage: The European nations of Spain and Portugal have been hit by a massive power outage on Monday. It was reported that the residents of Andorra and areas of France that border Spain were also hit by the power outage. 

As per the news agency ANI, outages have also been reported as far as Belgium.

Flights, Trains Affected By Power Outage?

The power outage has also affected airports, metros, and trains in the countries. The Barajas International Airport in Portugal's Madrid was left without electricity, and other airports in the region were also impacted. The telecommunications were affected by the power outage as well. 

The affects of power outage were seen in trains and metros too. According to ANI, Euronews Portugal reported that passengers were stranded in the metros of the capitals of Portugal and Spain. Furthermore, trains were reported to be stuck in the tunnels between stations. 

What Caused Power Outage In Spain And Portugal? 

The news agency reported that, as per Euro News, reports indicate issues with the European electric grid, leaving the citizens without electricity. The power outage in Portugal has been reported to be nationwide, however, the cause is yet to be determined. 

The domestic media have reported issues with the European electric grid, which impacted national grids in the Iberian Peninsula, Euro News further reported. 

The government of Spain gathered for an emergency session after the power outage at Moncloa and is monitoring the situation, as per Euronews Spain.
