The attack on the Jaffer Express passenger train occurred near the Ab-e-Gum area of Mach Town in Balochistan's Kachhi district, where approximately six armed men opened fire on the train, causing panic among the passengers.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.
Rescue teams and security forces have arrived at the scene, and an operation is underway to apprehend the assailants, PTI reported.
Railway officials confirmed that the train’s driver was seriously injured, and an emergency relief train has been sent to assist.
Controller of Railways, Muhammad Kashif, stated that the train, consisting of nine coaches, had approximately 500 passengers onboard.
“The train was stopped by armed men in Tunnel No 8,” the controller said.
